Forming in 2010, in the small town of Reykjavik, Iceland, five people formed one of the world’s most famous indie-alternative band: Of Monsters and Men. The band began their work in 2009 when lead vocalist, Nanna, wanted to add to her new solo project. A few more band members later and with a name everyone agreed on, the band was set.
My Head is An Animal (2011-13): Their first album was released in February 2011, and by August, Philadelphia’s radio began playing Little Talks which led the band to national popularity. As their fame grew, they signed with Universal for a worldwide release of their debut album and soon released My Head Is An Animal in the United States in 2012. The band has performed at several music festivals such as the Newport Folk festival, the Osheaga Festival, and even Lollapalooza in 2012. They also performed Little Talks and Mountain Sound on Saturday Night Live on May 4, 2013. In addition, Of Monsters And Men has contributed to several hit television soundtracks and their music was also used for an Iphone 5 advertising commercial.
Beneath the Skin (2014- Present): The band started to work on their new album in 2013, and in an interview, Nanna stated that an album would be arriving soon but did not give a release date. A teaser video to one of the tracks Crystals had been posted on March 16, 2015 along with the date for their album release, June 8, 2014. SInce then the band has yet to release any information on any upcoming albums and was included on Coachella’s 2016 lineup.
