Last Sunday, January 31, 2017, a reign of power was turned over to another queen to be. With over eighty countries, each with one competitor to represent them, the competition became heated. The amount of names dwindled down from 86 to 12 to finally, the final three. Once again Steve Harvey returned to host the show. This time around he made fun of his mishap from last year and even Miss Columbia joked about it. We learned about the compelling story of Miss Haiti and how much she went through to get where she is at today. Each one of these ladies deserve a crown, but only one could bear the title of Miss Universe, and with that said the winner was Miss France. Setting a record as the second person to win from France and another victory for Europe since 2002. Miss France’s campaign was run on oral hygiene because she is pursuing a degree in dental surgery. There have been recent remarks that Miss France is the first openly gay contestant to win Miss Universe because she stated she will proudly represent France and the Universe.
