An Ohio mother was taken into custody on Thursday, January 19, 2017, after taping her son to the wall and live streaming it on social media.
Shayla Rudolph, 18, was taken into custody and has been charged with child abuse. Rudolph needed to do housework so she decided to tape her son to the wall by his head and arm. It can also be seen in the video that she had taped his mouth. She thought it was a genius alternative to “whooping” her toddler.
During the twenty-minute video you can hear Rudolph telling her son, “You have the best mommy in the whole wide world.” Her son can also be heard whimpering. Rudolph then threatened she would add more tape if he kept crying. She also states he will be alright because he is able to see the television.
One concerned Facebook viewer contacted the Franklin County Children’s Service immediately. When authorities contacted Rudolph she claimed it was a joke. She then posted a follow-up video stating she would just have him sit in the corner, she soon added later that he was her son and she could hang him upside down if that’s what she wanted to do. Child services then took her son out of her custody.
