Virginia Zoo officials in Norfolk, Virginia have been looking for their reddish-brown panda, Sunny, that escaped Monday the 23rd of January, 2017. Sunny had been living at the Virginia Zoo since May 2016. According to the Virginia Zoo, the red panda was not in her enclosure on Tuesday morning. The zoo began working with the Norfolk Police Department in order to use their geothermal camera to search the zoo grounds thoroughly.

According to the zoo, red pandas are generally not aggressive animals, but their actions can be fairly unpredictable and others should try not to capture, touch, or feed the animal if found.

Red pandas are reddish-brown in color, with thick fur and a long tail, and also have a similar size to raccoons. These animals can be found on the ground or in trees.
