On Monday, November 28, 2016, an attack took place at the University of Ohio, which is located in Columbus. The attacker was identified as Abdul Razak Ali Artan; Artan rammed his car into a group of students on the Columbus campus before he charged at people with a knife. Eleven people were hospitalized as a result of the attack. Artan was shot after he failed to obey orders to stop. The attack ended less than two minutes after the police arrived thanks to Officer Harujko’s quick response.
Officials are investigating the attacker, Abdul Rozak, and his social media in order to determine if this was an act of terrorism. The law enforcement officers stated that it will take some time to determine whether it was a terrorist attack or not. A few days before Monday morning, Artan, a Somali immigrant, urged America to stop interfering with other countries affairs, especially in the Muslim community. “We will not let you sleep unless you give peace to the Muslims. You will not celebrate or enjoy any holiday,” he said. More details to follow as the story unfolds.
