September 11th, 2001 is a date which marked a cruel wound in America’s history. Millions of people watched as the Twin Towers, located within New York, were spliced by terrorists’ jets. Family and friends gathered below the inflamed World Trade Center as it eventually fell from the smoke filled sky. That day, nearly 3,000 lives were lost.
15 years later, America still mourns that tragic day. In New York, citizens gathered around the 9/11 Memorial located in Ground Zero. A ceremony was held to commemorate those who share their names on the memorial’s frame. First responders were celebrated for their bravery in the situation as well as the working men and woman.
In attendance were the presidential nominees and even the President himself. Although, Clinton left the ceremony early that day due to feeling ill.
During the event Obama gave his words on the matter. He delivered a speech celebrating America and its strength throughout the years, “We stand with the survivors who still bear the scars of that day”.
America still grieves over the tragedy, along with the loved ones of those taken too early. The nation will never forget such an infamous date in time.
