On Sunday the 18th, actress Doris Roberts passed away at the age of 90. The reason of her passing is still unknown. She was known on the television American Sitcom, Everybody Loves Raymond, where she played Marie Barone. The news of Robert’s passing was confirmed by one of her former co-star from the show, Patricia Heaton, tweeted about it. Heaton stated in her tweet, To my beloved Marie – RIP. She had also tweeted a picture of herself and Roberts, along with a quote saying, “Truly the end of an era. My wonderful TV mother-in-law and elr nemesis Doris Roberts was a consummate professional from whom I learned so much she was funny and tough and loved life, living it to the fullest. Nothing gave her greater joy than her three wonderful grandchildren, of whom she was so proud. It truly was a privilege Doris. I love you and miss you.”
On the sitcom, her character, Marie Barone, was the difficult mother of Ray Romano’s Character, Ray and wife Debra, who was played by Heaton. During her time on the show, Roberts was nominated for eleven Emmys. Seven of those Emmys she was nominated for, was for her role on Everybody Loves Raymond, and out of those seven, she took four home because of her work on the sit-com. She also won her very first Emmy back in 1983 for her guest appearance in St. Elsewhere.
In addition, recently the cast of the sit-com gathered together to celebrate the passing of the actress. TMZ spoke with Ray Romano and asked him about the gathering in the video below. Doris Roberts will be missed for her comical roles in many of her works.
