English singer, songwriter, and painter, David Bowie, has passed away at the age of 69 after an 18 month long battle with cancer. No statement has been made about the kind of cancer Bowie suffered with, however, statements to respect his family’s privacy at this time have. Bowie’s breakthrough album “The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust” and “The Spiders From Mars” released in 1972. The album sold a total of 7.5 million copies worldwide and was ranked the 35th greatest album ever by Rolling Stone magazine, Bowie’s career from there only went up. Bowie released his last album “Blackstar” on his 69th birthday, two days before his death in Manhattan, New York. Bowie dabbled in almost every type of musical genre: Pop Rock, Glam Rock, Prog Rock, Electronic Rock, etc. Bowie sold more than 130 million albums total, though he only reached his first No.1 in The Unites states in 1975. None the less, Bowie was a musical genius and inspiration to many artists with his fearless and creative styles. No one will ever replace David Bowie, AKA ‘Ziggy StarDust’.
