Battle for the Paddle

IMG_8338During their last league game, the Lady Miners water polo team pulled out a victory against their crosstown rival, Golden West. The ladies defeated the Blazers with a 12-4 victory, winning the paddle and second place in WYL. The girls started out strong and were able to continue with this throughout the game. Senior Emily Helpio had three goals. Andy Morales, Mandi McCaslin, and Makenzie Huskey put up two points each, and Allison Baker, Jizzelle Fernandez, and Bridget Cahill tossed in one goal apiece. Sophomore goalie, Lauren Hooyer, had eight blocks and two steals. The girls water polo team will continue their season in the first round of playoffs. They are seeded third in Division II and are set to play Madera High School at El Diamante, Saturday the 14th at 10am.
