Should cursing be allowed in books? Is it inappropriate for kids to read books with curse words in it? In my opinion, yes, it is okay for there to be cursing. If you are in high school and up, you should be able to read it. If you are in elementary school, then you should not be able to read it. Younger kids are too young to read books like that. If you are an older kid, then it should be fine for you to read it. Yes, it is still bad for older kids to be reading it, but they can handle it. They are more mature. The more mature you are, the more responsible you are. Plus, you can handle it a lot more. Most children do not know what the words actually mean. People are going to be cursing all the time around them. There is no way to avoid it. That is why it is better to be exposed to it before high school. You would not want to be that one person who does not know what it means, or even possibly ask them what it is. If a teacher reads a book to their class with curse words in it and does not actually read it, it puts no expression in what they are trying to say. Most of the time, it confuses people if they do not say it. The book would be better in my opinion if it had cursing. It would be interesting and put some expression in what they are trying to say. Rather than the author saying darn, they could say the other word. It would put more feeling into what they are trying to express. All in all, cursing in books should be allowed. Older kids can handle it a lot more than younger kids. Everyone likes reading an interesting book.
