August 29 was the Lady Miners first scrimmage against Dinuba. Dinuba’s team was all seniors and the rumors suggested that they were pretty good. It was a scrimmage so the score was not kept. Unfortunately, the Lady Miners had butterflies, getting off to a rough start. The heat that day did not help anyone, standing at a crisp 94 degrees fahrenheit. Besides the heat, it was a great day for golf. The front nine was a struggle for the Miners, not being able to save par. After the pregame jitters wore off, the Lady Miners started to show light and got the hang of things, I believe winning the back nine. Overall, the girls golf team displayed potential in what seems to be a rewarding season to come.
