The Drake vs Meek Mill beef was ignited by a tweet in which Meek Mill accused Drake of not writing his own raps. In the rap world, this is a big deal, because most rappers take pride in writing their own lyrics. Many people accused Quentin Miller of being Drake’s personal ghostwriter; Miller later came out and denied ever ghostwriting for Drake. In the midst of this all, Drake remained silent on social media except for some screenshots that surfaced onto the web of a conversation between him and Hitman Holla in which the rapper says “I signed up for greatness. This comes with it” (Instagram). Shortly after Drake dropped “Charged up” on Beats 1 OVO Sound Radio show to which Meek Mill called “Baby lotion soft” (Twitter). Just when everyone thought Drake was done dropping diss tracks, he came out with “Back to back”. Social media blew up instantly and the majority of rap fans thought the diss track went hard. After waiting for over a week, Meek finally dropped his own diss track “Wanna know” and the fans of the rap world were not impressed. Since then, the beef has slowly died down but we all know who clearly won.
