El Diamante track faced Tulare Western in a scrimmage meet at Western. This meet only had 2 schools competing. In scrimmage meets, competitors are not awarded medals for placing. It’s more of a meet to get your team prepared and see where they are at. El Diamante won most of the events and are looking good going into their first invitational meet on Saturday. Although the track team has faced some speed bumps in the track, with injuries to a few of their top runners and jumpers. They will be polished by the time season begins.
Darius Lilies took first in the shot put and Nick Souza took first in discus to claim the throwing events. As for running, El D seemed to be ahead the entire meet. JC Robles and Josh tied in the 200 with a time of 23.4 and put themselves up there with some of the fastest runners in WYL. The distance runners did not attend this meet to keep their legs strong for Saturday’s meet. To close the meet, our boys relay team beat both of Western’s teams by a landslide.
