3 Hotel Theories for American Horror Story

Staff Writer

This fifth season of American Horror Story has been announced that it will be themed “hotel”. People are now trying to figure out what theories will be in store for the season. The first theory:

Chicago serial killer H.H Holmes and his murder castle

The story behind this is Henry Howard Holmes opened the World’s Fair Hotel in Chicago in 1893, but the locals had called it a “castle” because of its size. It had been said to have 100 windowless rooms, doorways that lead to brick walls, and stairways to nowhere. Beside the construction of the house, Holmes had murdered nearly 30 of his female employees by either asphyxiating them in soundproof bedrooms hooked up to gas lines, or locking them in his office’s bank vault where they would suffocate. The dead bodies were sent down a chute to the basement where he would dissect their bodies into skeletons that he sold to medical schools.

The reason that this would work for this season there has been an element of doctors or medicine in each season so far and several of his past characters and storylines have been from real life crimes.

The second theory:

The Garden of Allah Hotel

The story of this is it opened in Hollywood in 1927 and hosted many famous guests over the years such as Humphrey Bogart, Scott Fitzgerald, Lauren Bacall, and Marlene Dietrich. It doesn’t sound exciting, but frequent guest Lucius Beebe describes “Nothing interrupted the continual tumult that was life at the Garden of Allah. Now and then the men in white came with a van and took somebody away, or bankruptcy or divorce or even jail claimed a participant in its strictly unstately sarabands. Nobody paid any mind.” It was then demolished in 1959.

The reason this would work is it has many mentions of it in Freakshow and Marlene Dietrich was the inspiration for Jessica Lange’s character Elsa Mars, a frequent guest at the Garden of Allah, and a star in a 1936 film by the same name. It would also work with Lady Gaga as a 20’s era star at the hotel.

The third theory:

The Cecil Hotel in Los Angeles

The story behind this is it is where the 21 year old Elisa Lam was found drowned in its water tank in January 2013. With a little digging they also found it was once home to serial killers Richard “the NIghtstalker” Ramirez and Jack Unterweger. This hotel is also the last alleged location Elizabeth Short, also known as Black Dahlia was seen before her still unsolved 1947 murder.

It works because the obvious hotel part, but she also appears in season one. Los Angeles appears in most seasons of American Horror Story and the fifth season will be set in present day which would be connected to the Elisa Lam case.

So with that the American Horror Story: Hotel season 5 will be coming out in October and we will see what is in store for them.
