This past weekend, on Saturday the fifteenth, our own Marching Miners went and competed in the MBOS championships. In the first preliminary performance they received third place with a score of 78.66 losing to Hart Regiment(William S Hart HS) and Los Alamitos (Los Alamitos HS). With that they were placed to perform first out of twelve other bands, which most were from Nevada and Los Angeles. El Diamante was the only school from the valley. In finals they had placed tenth out of twelve with a score of 76.79, beating Cardinal Alliance Band and Color Guard and Newbury Park High School. The Miners left with good spirits, though as Color Guard Captain Javonee Bynum says, “ On our first performance I had thought we did pretty okay, everyone was individually different” and she also thinks, “We only had thirty minutes to warm up beside our usual two hours, so we did not do very well in finals”. Another member of the Color Guard Meghyn Torabi exclaims “ It was really windy and we fought for all our catches, and did the very best we could and I think this will ready us for our championships next week”. Kalee Prillowitz and Jenna Eugene agree and add, “We could have been really solid out there without the wind”. The Marching Miners are holding their heads high and pushing all the way to the end. Ixty Rios believes “ her girls pushed through this weekend and worked real hard.” So as this season is closing, the Miners will not stop working hard and they are hoping to win 4A this weekend at the WBA championships which they have been looking forward to all year!
