Ovation 2 hits the stage

Support the dramatic arts. Ovation; the second of its kind is an up and coming drama production put on solely by the drama department for the people. It is a series of one act scenes and monologues put on purely for the entertainment for the audience. I personally interviewed the director of the upcoming production, Mr. Ryan Pullen. He stated that Ovation 2, “Is a showcase of dramatic talent and the students have worked hard to put together acts ranging from contemporary to comedy. There are going to be lots of crazy characters, and tons of funny acting.”

According to the students involved, this show is going to be a rare treat considering it’s not held every year. I had a chance to speak with one of the drama department students, Mary Beth Bourne. I simply asked her why people should go and see this sequel to last year’s Ovation. Her comment; “People should go and see Ovation because it’s so rare in this modern age to get to see a live performance of drama and I know whenever I see live drama, it’s so impacting compared to on the screen because that’s it; just one take. Unlike a movie where they can take it over and over and perfect it down to the nub. This…this is real.” Ovation 2 certainly seems like it will be the hit of the season.

So come on down to the El Diamante High School theater and see the show. There will be two shows this Saturday, September 24, 2011; one at 2 p.m. and one at 7 p.m. Tickets are $5. It’s fun; it’s entertaining; it’s Ovation.
